Job summary
Abernethy House Surgery is a friendly, welcoming and forward-thinking GP Practice located in the heart of Enfield. We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and caring Practice Nurse to join our dedicated clinical team on a part-time basis for 18 - 20 hours/ week on three days.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and reliable nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and making a positive difference within the community. Job responsibilities
The Practice Nurse will:
- Provide holistic nursing care to patients within their scope of practice.
- Deliver childhood and adult immunisation programmes.
- Undertake cervical cytology screening.
- Carry out NHS Health Checks.
- Manage patients with long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD and hypertension.
- Perform wound care, dressings and leg ulcer management.
- Provide contraception and sexual health advice where appropriately trained.
- Administer medicines and vaccinations in accordance with PGDs and practice protocols.
- Conduct health promotion and lifestyle advice clinics.
- Undertake screening and preventative healthcare programmes.
- Assist in infection prevention and control activities.
- Provide support with minor surgery procedures where required.
- Recognise, assess and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care.
- Develop positive therapeutic relationships with patients and carers.
- Promote independence and self-management of long-term conditions.
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy and respect at all times.
- Advocate for patients and support shared decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records using EMIS Web.
- Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement projects.
