The need for Consultant Dermatologists who are trained to a higher level in Medical Dermatology than the current CCT standard necessitates a post-CCT curriculum in Advanced Medical Dermatology .
This fellowship is designed to deliver the Post-CCT curriculum and to enable the post holder to rapidly acquire skills needed to deliver high quality specialist services for complex medical dermatology patients in specific areas of sub-specialisation.
Post-CCT Fellows will be expected to deliver service within the NHS appropriate to a newly qualified consultant, but will gain experience of independent practice in advanced medical dermatology in a working environment where there is support from highly experienced specialists.
Fellowship training usually occurs over 12 months but may be extended to support less than full time training.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working at level of junior consultant, with competence to deal with general medical dermatology in an unsupervised capacity, but with provision of supervision for tertiary referral level specialist work.
The post will include will include: out-patient clinics and on call, including review of acute ward referrals; supervision of trainees on call and in clinic, attendance at relevant MDT meetings and regular biopsy list.
Clinics should include a specialist biologics clinic in psoriasis, specialist biologics clinic in eczema, specialist clinic in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) , and flexibility to include other clinics depending on candidate choice, eg specialist clinic in blistering, oral dermatology, Lymphoma, Graft versus Host Disease (GVHD), severe urticaria, hair loss, connective tissue disease.

Qualifications and Training

- • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) in Dermatology
- Or • Eligible for specialist registration with six months of interview
- Or • Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or evidence of within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview

- • High academic qualifications eg MSc, MD or phD
