Job summary
This is a fixed term role at 0.8 WTE which equates 30 hrs per week. The post is based solely on the acute wards at St Marys Hospital on the Isle of Wight. The successful applicant will have NHS experience and be able to work as part of a team.
To enhance health and well-being by facilitating high quality meaningful activity care to patients with healthcare needs in the inpatient and/or community rehabilitation setting across a seven-day service and support orthopaedic weekend rota as required.
The post is vital to facilitate, as far as possible, each client's return to maximum function and independence through working directly with patients independently, carrying out a range of therapeutic interventions.
This intervention has a significant impact on the wider economy in reducing length of stay in hospital, admissions and re-admissions, residential placements through both social care and continuing health care, domiciliary care packages as well as improving health outcomes.

Main duties of the job
*To work autonomously and without direct supervision with clients in the environments where the physiotherapy service conducts interventions, with registered professional guidance, autonomously undertaking interventions with clients in an enabling way to promote independence.
*To provide holistic client centred care and treatment by autonomously carrying out a range of delegated tasks for individuals and/or groups, including administration and clerical duties.
*To contribute to effective and efficient teamwork in the delivery of care to all clients / their families / carers with a wide variety of clinical conditions and social circumstances.
*To work flexibly both within in a team and independently with patients referred to the Service from across the Isle of Wight, seeking professional qualified support as required.
*To work as part of the orthopaedic weekend rota as required.
*Act as a competent lone worker in all work environments and take appropriate action in emergency situations and to ensure relationships and own behaviour is managed in line with the Trust Vision's and Values Framework.
*Autonomously maintain concise and accurate contemporaneous records and complete other associated administrative tasks; including proficiency in the use of computer software systems, monitoring/reviewing completed cases and keep statistics utilised by the Physiotherapy Service.

Experience
Essential
- Computer literate with demonstrated ability to autonomously, effectively and efficiently use Microsoft office suite and intranet/internet
- Demonstrated ability to utilise specific data bases autonomously
- Evidence of working with the public, especially within the healthcare field.
- An understanding of rehabilitation and human anatomy and physiology.
- Evidence of experience working within physiotherapy field (such as work experience/observation sessions) or working within related therapy fields e.g. occupational therapy, sports therapy, holistic therapies, nursing
- An understanding of safeguarding and data protection policies.
- Completion of the care certificate within the first 6-12 months of employment if new to the Trust
Desirable
- NHS Experience in most of the core clinical areas such as Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedics, Neurology, Respiratory and Rehabilitation.
- Some experience of communication in complex circumstances
Qualifications
Essential
- A-Level qualifications or equivalent (e.g. NVQ 3); Health & Social Care NVQ level III or above or equivalent experience
- English and Maths GCE/GCSE or equivalent Grade C or above or equivalent qualification to demonstrate numeracy and literacy
Desirable
- Post graduate education relevant to core clinical area mentioned in knowledge section
