An exciting opportunity has arisen for applicants interested in gaining experience working in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy here at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.  The is advertised post is a 9-month, fixed term, 22 hours per week contract.

The role based in Musculoskeletal Outpatients as part of the North Tyneside Musculoskeletal Service (NTIMS). Patients will be will be referred from a variety of sources including  ED, WIC, and the orthopaedic consultant team.

CPD is actively encouraged within our teams and training is supervised by Senior Physiotherapy clinicians supporting staff to achieve their individual learning outcomes supported by a robust appraisal system.

This post is based at North Tyneside General Hospital but staff may be required to work across the Trust. There are no on-call / weekend commitments associated with the current role.

Main duties of the job

  • The junior rotational scheme operates throughout the trust and involves working in a wide range of clinical teams including musculo-skeletal, orthopaedics, general medicine, elderly care, neurology, rehabilitation, surgery and ITU, paediatrics, women’s health and front of house.
  • Rotations are set at six monthly intervals to provide broad range of post graduate experience.
  • Junior staff are accountable to a Team Leader and ultimately site clinical manager.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To assess and treat an independent physiotherapy caseload.
  • To work as part of the physiotherapy team under the supervision of senior physiotherapy staff.
  • The rotational element of the role consolidates under graduate skills and knowledge  across a range of therapeutic modalities.
  • To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within team / departments and across organisational boundaries.

Experience

Desirable

  • Pre-registration experience in core areas e.g. orthopaedics, neurology, respiratory
  • Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
  • Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques, and methods

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSC Honours degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • Registered Physiotherapist with the Health Professionals Council.
  • Evidence of continued professional development through self-directed learning and in-service training record.

Desirable

  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
