An exciting opportunity has arisen for one enthusiastic, hard-working and dedicated professional to join the Department of Neuro Surgery at St George’s Hospital as a Physician’s Associate.
The successful candidate will support the present provision of Neurosurgery surgical services to the populations of South-West London and surrounding areas. Opportunities exist for the successful candidate to become an integral part of the management of patients with superficial venous disease, being involved in all aspects of the treatment pathway of these patients.
A full programme of training and support will underpin your development within the team.
The post-holder must have completed an accredited Physician Associate training programmer and passed national final examination in the UK. The job will involve inpatient work. They will carry out such tasks as approved by the Neurosurgery department as a whole with input particularly from the mentoring consultant.
Main duties of the job
To provide expert assistance to the consultant neurosurgeons and specialist registrars in the provision of a high quality service to patients in the neurosurgery department. The post holders are expected to participate in all aspects of the patient pathway as appropriate and will be expected to perform delegated duties with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge, working within the environments of the operating theatres, wards and outpatient clinics.
The Physician Assistants role is being developed to work alongside the department’s surgeons. They will be trained to assess and examine patients, present them, initiate and interpret investigations, and recommend treatment. They will be expected to liaise with other professionals and specialities as required and complete necessary documentation relating to their patients

Qualifications and Training
Essential
- BA/BS Degree prior to undertaking PA program
- PG Dip in Physician Assistant Studies from a UK training programme
- Current and valid certification or recertification by the Physician Assistant National Examination or If US Trained: • Current and valid certification with the National Commissio n on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA) • Registration with the UK Managed Voluntary Registry for physician assistants as soon as t is in place

- ILS, ACLS & PALS certification required
