The Role

  • To collect blood samples by venepuncture or capillary route from Locality patients within the Health Centre, GP Practices and Hospital.

In this key role, you will:

  • Adherence to NHS Lanarkshire policies and procedures relevant to all areas of work and regulatory requirements. These would include the following but may not be limited:
  • Health and Safety Policy in particular Infection Control and needle stick injury.
  • NHS Lanarkshire policy on hospital acquired infection.
  • Patient Confidentiality Policy.
  • Risk Management.

What You'll Bring:

  • Coping with increases in activity especially during winter months.
  • Taking samples from highly infectious patients.
  • Dealing with Patients with poor veins and deciding best access.
  • Dealing with difficult patients.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
