Job summary
Shore Medical are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our friendly and supportive nursing team.
This is is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day).
This is a great opportunity to play an important role in delivering high-quality patient care across our six practices in Poole and Bournemouth. You will work alongside our Practice Nurses and wider multidisciplinary team, providing routine and urgent blood tests and supporting patients throughout their appointment.
The role offers the opportunity to work across all Shore Medical sites, making this an ideal position for someone who enjoys a varied working environment, working as part of a team and providing excellent patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
Provide routine and urgent phlebotomy services to patients across all six Shore Medical sites.
Ensure patients receive a safe, respectful and positive experience throughout their appointment.
Work closely with Practice Nurses and the wider clinical team to support the delivery of effective patient care.
Ensure samples, equipment and clinical areas are managed safely and appropriately.
Maintain accurate patient records and follow relevant clinical, infection control and practice procedures.
Support the wider team as required and contribute to the smooth running of the service.

Job responsibilities
Undertake routine and urgent venepuncture safely and effectively.
Correctly collect, label, handle and transport blood samples.
Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
Ensure phlebotomy equipment and stock are clean, safe and in date.
Follow safe sharps management and disposal procedures.
Provide reassurance and support to patients who may be anxious or distressed.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records and uphold confidentiality.
Work effectively with Practice Nurses and the wider Primary Care Team.
Escalate clinical concerns and safeguarding issues appropriately.
Maintain professional competence through training, appraisal and continuing development.
Support clinical audits, quality improvement and health promotion activities where required.
Provide flexible support to the Practice and Primary Care Network, including cover for colleagues when required.
