Would you like to be part of a vital service taking blood samples for patients both in hospital and out in the community?
The Phlebotomy Department is seeking responsible and enthusiastic individuals to work as Phlebotomists to work on the Blackpool Teaching Hospital wards, ED, clinics, outpatients and in patients homes across Fylde and Wyre. This is an exciting opportunity to broaden your experience and learn new skills in this interesting role. You will be required to perform venepuncture and must have a valid driving license and own vehicle.
Applicants need to be able and willing to start work at 07:30 am and weekends on rotation.

Main duties of the job
Taking blood samples (performing venepuncture) from patients on hospital wards, outpatient clinics and in the Community ,which are then transported for analysis at Blackpool Victoria Hospital Pathology Department
Particular qualities we are looking for include:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a polite and courteous manner towards patients and relatives.
- A passion for delivering excellent results and an eye for detail
- Good hand to eye coordination
- Ability to work under pressure, as part of a team as well as organising your own workload.
- Able to adhere strictly to established protocols and Trust policies
- Have excellent work attendance and good time-keeping
- Provide a caring and professional service for users
- Maintain high standards of professional appearance
- Enthusiasm, determination and a positive, can-do attitude
- Willingness to work flexibility
- Willingness to work at short notice
You will need basic computer skills and be able to meet the physical demands of the job which include standing, bending, walking and have a full driving licence.
Previous hospital or community phlebotomy experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided to ensure you have the skills required to fulfil the position.
