Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a phlebotomist within our Arran hospital and community services based at Arran War Memorial hospital, Isle of Arran. The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams, flexibility to travel across the island, and a commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care while supporting the delivery of diagnostic services.

Hours:

26.64 hours per week

Monday- Friday

This post is offered on a permanent basis

UK Driving Licence:

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What you will do:

The post holder will provide a high-quality phlebotomy service across Arran Hospital and Community Nursing Services, undertaking venepuncture procedures in a variety of settings including Arran War Memorial Hospital, outpatient clinics, GP practices and patients' homes. The post holder will support the multidisciplinary team by ensuring blood samples are obtained, labelled, stored and transported safely and efficiently to facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment. Working within agreed policies, procedures and professional standards, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care across both hospital and community services

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:

Good general knowledge required, although no formal qualifications are necessary.

On appointment will undergo a period of training, and must complete an extensive Departmental training programme. This will include relevant anatomy and physiology and awareness of Phlebotomy. This training will last for a minimum of six months and is the equivalent of National Vocational Qualification Level 3.

Lone worker Policy applies.

Ongoing training including mandatory updates and refresher courses.
