*** EXCITING NURSE ASSOCIATE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE EATING DISORDERS TEAM *** Maternity Cover (12 Months Fixed Term). An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Specialist Eating Disorder Service. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated and innovative individual to work as part of our multi-disciplinary team to deliver an efficient outpatient physical health monitoring clinical for patient experiencing Eating Disorders.

The successful applicant will have met the required elements set out in the person specification and will be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical and communication skills. A degree of flexibility in approach is required along with a willingness to learn whilst working in an environment that can at times be challenging.

You will be based in our Eating Disorders Outpatient Department in Stafford.

Main duties of the job

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • To be fully competent in all aspects of venepuncture according to the Trust Venepuncture Policy taking responsibility in maintaining own competency levels through reassessment protocols and of any changes in practice. • To carry out phlebotomy duties as agreed by the senior members of staff and to bring any problems to the attention of the line manager that may arise during their duty. • To learn and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of blood test performed by the Eating Disorder Service and their appropriate bottles and containers. • To label blood samples as directed in the Venepuncture Policy. • To ensure samples are correctly packaged for transportation to the laboratory. • To be fully conversant with the Eating Disorder Service Departmental Standard Operating procedures for physical health monitoring, ensuring that personal performance comply with these and may propose changes to Standing Operating Procedures. • To liaise with all staff who utilise the service. • Able to offer information to a wide range of patients and/or their representative which is appropriate to the level of understanding. • To organise and prioritise own day to day work tasks, ensuring that all areas that are designated for the day are visited. • Ensure that there are sufficient stocks to perform the daily workload, through making requests for various items in a timely manner..
