Pharmacy Technician – RACH Dispensary

Band 5 - 29 hours per week

Aim: To participate in the delivery of a patient-focused, pharmacy service for outpatients and inpatients, including ward based services and clinical trials, provided through the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH) pharmacy dispensary as part of acute pharmacy services within NHS Grampian.

The post involves management of dispensary workload and supervision and training of dispensary support staff to allow provision of an efficient, economic and safe dispensing service.

Participation in training and education of ward staff, implementation of new policies and procedures and service level audits is also expected.

Clinical trial work includes setting-up of new trials, management of trial documentation and trial medication management, in line with the principles of good clinical practice (GCP) and departmental standard operating procedures. Some of this work may be carried out in the pharmacy clinical trials department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The post holder is expected to participate in the pharmacy department weekend and public holiday rota.

Applications for this post are invited from qualified, General Pharmaceutical Council registered pharmacy technicians with relevant and substantial post qualification experience. An accredited checking technician qualification is required and if not already held, must be undertaken.
