In this role, you will work alongside the GP service, nursing teams and our pharmacy provider to ensure medications are ordered, dispensed and received on site in a timely manner. You will act on safety alerts, maintain secure storage of medications and attend monthly multidisciplinary meetings to support collaborative care planning. Your responsibilities will include contributing to clinical governance, participating in audits and liaising with pharmacy and nursing staff to continuously improve service delivery.
You will provide visibility and support across departments, ensuring both clinical and non-clinical teams have access to pharmacy expertise throughout the working week. Escalating quality concerns, maintaining professional standards, and ensuring compliance with GPhC guidance will be central to your role. You will also deliver staff training relevant to medication management and support service development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside the GP service, Multidisciplinary Team and identified pharmacy provider to ensure medications are ordered, dispensed and received on site in a timely manner.
- Act on any safety alerts provided by the wider company to ensure service user safety is prioritised.
- Ensure safe storage of medications in collaboration with nursing teams.
- Attend monthly multidisciplinary meetings and participate as appropriate.
- Contribute to clinical governance, ensuring any change to practice or local policy is directed through this forum.
- Maintain professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Ensure professional accreditations are maintained in line with GPhC guidance.
- Escalate any quality concerns or incidents in line with company policy.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
- Ensure departments have access to Pharmacy Technician support throughout the working week.
- Liaise with the pharmacy provider and nursing staff to support service development.
- Participate in audits to drive continuous improvement and service development.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- GPhC Registration.
- Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians (or a BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences).
- A minimum of two years of supervised, practical experience in a pharmacy setting.
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent experience and qualifications.
