Core working hours are between 8:00 and 19:30.   There is also a requirement to work one Saturday or Sunday every five weeks (you’ll then get a day off the following week) and one bank holiday a year.  Weekend and Bank Holiday shifts have additional pay rates.  The role is based cross-site at Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley Hospital dispensary.

Main duties of the job

  • To effectively use all relevant pharmacy IT systems including EMIS, Omnicell and Pharmacy Web Tracker
  • To carry out technical pharmaceutical duties in specified areas of the pharmacy service including dispensing and distribution of medicines.
  • To plan and manage own workload and that of pharmacy technicians and assistants to ensure services are delivered in a cost effective and operationally efficient manner.
  • To be involved in the delivery of training and development of colleagues including supporting with the competency assessment process.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of all areas of Pharmacy Services
  • Knowledge of medicines legislation and clinical governance
  • IT and Computer systems
  • Good communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience with Pharmacy IT Systems including EMIS, Omnicell and Webtracker

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services with underpinning knowledge provided by the BTEC Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Registered with GPHC
