Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 motivated and proactive Pharmacy Technicians to join our pharmacy department. Both positions are up to 37.5hours. We are also advertising at Band 5, but we are open to a Band 4 to 5 development opportunity, and applications will be accepted from students who are in their 2nd year of study and are due to qualify. The role is varied and constantly evolving to meet the needs of the service. Whether you are working alongside clinical ward pharmacists, supporting the digital pharmacy, conducting audits or investigations or accuracy checking, no two days are the same. You must be able to work collaboratively to deliver the highest quality of care, and to encourage the development of others, the service and yourselves. It will involve travel across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Currently there are no weekend duties, bank holiday working or late nights. You may be expected to work some Saturday mornings in the future.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be a confident decision maker, with clear leadership skills, excellent pharmaceutical knowledge and technical skills and a sound understanding of pharmacy service and hospital service.

Main duties include,

Management of Discharge Medication Service

Engagement with patients in discussions about their medication.

Conducting audits or investigations

Writing/Updating medicine policies or standard operating procedures.

Clinical support for digital pharmacy systems.

Dispensing medication or accuracy checking as appropriate.

Support POCHI (point of care haematology) testing for clozapine clinics run across Herefordshire and Worcestershire

Experience

Essential

  • Detailed knowledge/experience of working in a hospital dispensary
  • Knowledge of the national pharmacy agenda

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a relevant clinical/dispensary setting

Qualifications

Essential

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures for specialist area acquired though training, NVQ3, BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
