Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Support Worker, Higher Level for the Pharmacy Homecare team, Band 3 within our Pharmacy Department based at University Hospital Crosshouse
Hours:
36 hours per week, to be worked over 5 days
This post is offered on a fixed term basis for 1 year
What you will do:
You will provide administrative and technical support to our existing pharmacy team.
As well as general administration duties you will be responsible for the following aspects of the service working alongside our homecare and dispensary teams:
- Set up, manage and maintain homecare registrations for new patients under the direction of the Senior Pharmacy Technician, Homecare.
- Co-ordinating prescriptions and deliveries with homecare providers, clinical staff and patients
- Processing of homecare prescriptions
- Organising prescriptions on an ongoing basis
- Liaising with clinical teams/prescribers regarding logistics
- Liaising with homecare companies and pharmacy homecare team during medication switches
- Dealing with patient complaints/concerns regarding deliveries
- Utilising and maintaining homecare databases
- Processing homecare invoices
- Filing of homecare paperwork

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
- SVQ Level 2/3 – Pharmacy Services group award or equivalent
- Completed on the job pharmacy in house training programmes in all areas of rotation along with evidence of significant additional hospital pharmacy experience equivalent to N/SVQ level 3.
- Experience to assess the competency and work of staff undertaking training against departmental training programmes and standard operating procedures.
- Communication skills (oral and written).
