The Pensions Administrator is responsible for providing an efficient and effective administration and support service for the Pensions team, Payroll based at Buckingham Row, Wigan.
Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm. 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job
The role acts as the first point of contact for visitors to the Payroll department at Buckingham Row, providing a friendly, approachable and professional service to internal and external customers both virtually and in person.
It includes managing the receipt, recording and timely distribution of all incoming mail for the Pensions team, supporting the triage of requests and documents to ensure they are complete and authorised, and storing information accurately in electronic formats.
The post holder will handle enquiries efficiently and courteously, offering appropriate guidance on next steps and escalating more complex matters where needed.
They will also provide managers with advice on best practice and correct procedures, manage and plan their own administrative workload to meet required deadlines, and proactively identify and report opportunities for improvement within the service.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Act as first point of contact for visitors to Payroll department based at Buckingham Row.
- Ensure a friendly, approachable, and professional manner when interacting with internal and external customers virtually and/or face to face.
- Mange the receipt and timely distribution of all incoming hard copy mail allocated to the Pensions team to the relevant person in a timely manner.
- Support the triaging of received requests and documents for processing ensuring they are completed correctly with the authorised signatures, were appropriate.
- Record all documents/information received and ensure they are correctly stored in an electronic format.
- Ensure all interactions in relation to requests and enquiries to the department are dealt with in an efficient, effective, and courteous manner.
- Provide support to customers as appropriate, informing of next steps to resolving requests and queries and referring complex matters to work colleagues for further support when appropriate.
- Provide an advisory service on best practice to all managers by promoting the correct policies and procedures relating to all work activities.
- Ensure that own administration workload is managed and planned to support delivery outcomes required, informing line manager/s of any circumstances that may impact on delivery by required deadlines.
- Identify and report any areas of improvement along with making suggestions and ideas for further consideration.
