We are looking for a person who has lived experience of utilising secondary mental health services due to complex emotional needs to fulfil a peer support worker role in our Intensive Life Skills (ILS) Shropshire service.
Our Peer Support Worker will be a valued member of the ILS multi-disciplinary team, using lived experience to support service-users with their goals and recovery journey in one-to-one and group settings in the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin area, alongside co-production and codelivery of training sessions.
We are a friendly and supportive team who work closely together to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care through individual formulation-led approaches. We value and welcome the unique experiences and perspectives a Peer Support Worker brings to the team.
Candidates should demonstrate an ability to reflect on their recovery experiences and use their journey to support others. They should demonstrate strong communication and person-centred skills, using lived experience to build trusting, mutual relationships that promote hope, opportunity and choice.
You will need to travel independently over a large geographical area and will require suitable transport
Virtual and in person face to face sessions.
Lived Experience of receiving care from mental health services is essential to fulfil the person specification requirements for this role. We are aware that this role may be based in a team where you are currently been treated. Please be aware that if this is the case, your application will not be disadvantaged but upon beginning employment with us, a transfer of care to another team (or potentially organisation) will be coordinated to ensure safe working for your care and employment needs. Similarly, if you need mental health services input whilst in role, we would arrange a transfer to another team to separate your care and your employment. This is in line with our organisational practices for all staff working at MPFT.
This role includes a two stage interview process. The first stage will be an informal group session with shortlisted candidates, where you can meet the team, learn more about the role, and decide if it feels like the right fit for you. There will also be a group exercise as part of this session. Candidates who are successful at this stage will be invited to attend a second stage, which will be a one-to-one interview.
