An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our award winning Finance team for a Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team. The role supports the Payroll Department to deliver a high-quality payroll service in an efficient and effective manner to Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and AGH Solutions Limited. To pay all their employees in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with statutory obligations, and local and National Terms and Conditions of Service.
Based in the Finance department located off the main hospital site at Gateway House in Skipton, the team act as point of contact for managers and budget holders and all staff.
12 month fixed term contract.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the Payroll Officer include, but are not limited to:
- To provide an accurate payroll and pension service to the Trust and AGH Solutions Ltd.
- To analyse and interpret complex payments (for example, following pay awards)
- To act as point of contact for managers, budget holders and the staff within those areas.
- Responsible for maintaining systems and payroll records to ensure that accurate payments are made and that the Trust’s and employees’ statutory requirements are met.
- To understand and apply current payroll regulations relating to pay and conditions.
- To calculate complex payments to employees of the Trust, for example maternity pay.
- To maintain accurate sickness absence and entitlement records for each employee.
- To answer routine and complex queries from external organisations and agencies on payroll-related matters.
- Actively investigates any discrepancies which have arisen and explains individual pay matters in a professional and tactful manner
- Identify all overpayments and deal with these in accordance with the Trust’s overpayment procedures.
- To ensure that changes to employee’s details and pay and any payments made, are done so in line with the correct authorisation procedures.
- To maintain the confidentiality of Trust and employee information and use such information only as authorised for specific purposes.
