Job overview

This is a new and exciting role for the volunteer to support the clinical leadership team with a new peer-led patient council. They will support in engaging patients with providing feedback regarding their experience within the service and be a big part of developing and facilitating the patient council alongside the clinicians.

Main duties of the job

The volunteer is required to work within the list of tasks identified as follows:

  • Responding to enquiries in a polite manner and ensuring an appropriate response is initiated.
  • Contacting patients about the patient council
  • Supporting with scheduling talks/topics for patient council sessions
  • Supporting with the logistics of organising the patient council.
  • Capturing feedback from the meetings
  • Printing and posting letters associated with this
  • Photocopying
  • Filing
  • Confidential shredding
  • Report any concerns to the Supervisor / Service Manager
  • Ad-hoc administration duties required to support admin function

Collation of data and use of Microsoft packages

  • Contacting patients to inform them of upcoming patient council

  • Writing minutes for the meeting.
  • To be punctual and reliable
  • Good listening skills with a warm, friendly and professional approach.
  • To adhere to the dress code for the area in which they volunteer. To aid recognition by staff, patients, service users and visitors you must always wear your ID badge.
  • Be able to work as a member of a team.
