Jedburgh Medical Practice

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our busy and expanding Administrative Team in the role of Patient Advisor.

This is an important front-facing role within the Practice, where you will be the first point of contact for patients and external agencies, ensuring they access the most appropriate services in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner.

Hours of Work (26 hours per week):

  • Monday 830am-6pm
  • Tuesday 1230pm-6pm
  • Wednesday 12pm – 6pm
  • Friday 12pm-53pm

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will undertake a range of administrative and patient-facing duties, including:

  • Receiving, assisting, and directing patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service in a courteous and efficient manner
  • Handling telephone and face-to-face enquiries from patients, secondary care, and external agencies, and directing them appropriately
  • Booking appointments for GPs, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, and Physiotherapists
  • Issuing repeat prescriptions in line with practice guidelines
  • Managing correspondence, including scanning letters onto patient records
  • Accurately inputting clinical data, including outcomes from hospital clinics and practice appointments
  • Copying and scanning health records in accordance with GDPR
  • Supporting practice filing, storage, and archiving procedures
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times in line with Data Protection and Information Security Policies
  • Using clinical systems such as EMIS and Docman on a daily basis

About You:

We are seeking an individual who:

  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is organised and able to work in a busy environment
  • Is confident using IT systems (experience with EMIS and Docman is desirable)
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to confidentiality and data protection
  • Works well as part of a team and follows established protocols and procedures
