Main duties of the job
The postholder will provide day-to-day support and management of the Trust's Pathology IT systems, ensuring they remain secure, reliable and fit for purpose. Key responsibilities include system administration, maintenance, testing, upgrades, troubleshooting and user support, alongside monitoring system performance, data quality and business continuity arrangements. The role will involve working closely with suppliers to manage incidents, updates and service improvements, supporting training and documentation, and acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues. The successful candidate will contribute to service development, support analyser interfaces where required, participate in change control and risk management processes, and work collaboratively with colleagues across Pathology and Digital to ensure the effective delivery of safe and efficient services. The Pathology IT Subject Matter Expert is responsible for the day-to-day support, maintenance and continual improvement of the Trust's Pathology IT systems. Working as part of a small, highly skilled and supportive team, the postholder will provide expert technical support, manage system upgrades and supplier relationships, support users and training, and contribute to service development, data quality, information governance and business continuity activities. The role requires close collaboration with Pathology Consultants, Biomedical Scientists, Laboratory Managers, Digital colleagues, clinical and operational system users, senior leaders, and external system suppliers to ensure pathology systems remain reliable, secure and effective in supporting high-quality patient care and service delivery
