An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paediatric Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join the ED team on a 24-hour rota. The trainee advanced clinical practitioner role is a 3-year training programme which the post holder will study at post–graduate level to gain a master’s degree in advanced clinical practice at an approved Higher Education Institute (HEI). In order to achieve qualification as an ACP, you must successfully achieve completion of all academic assessments.

Alongside academic studies, the trainee ACP is required to successfully complete the RCEM (Royal College of Emergency Medicine) ACP competencies and shown successful evidence of clinical competence in a number of key clinical presentations.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be based at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust within the Emergency Department.

The Paediatric Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) will use specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare independently to patients.  Under supervision, the  trainee ACP  will see patients with undiagnosed and undifferentiated conditions

The post holder will act as a role model, delivering advanced practice and promoting clinical effectiveness in care.  He/she will be required to work autonomously in delivering independent assessment, clinical examination, diagnosis, clinical decision making and planning of care and treatment, diagnosis, prescribing, health promotion and safe discharge of patients.

The job holder will work towards becoming an autonomous practitioner within a defined clinical area, delivering all aspects of management and care to a wide range of patients with varying needs. They will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team and will play an integral role in the operational/strategic development of the service.

Experience

  • Experience working within paediatric acute / emergency setting. Minimum two years.

  • Experience of designing and delivering training and education for health care professionals
  • Evidence of lead for or contribution to audit programs within practice

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered with relevant professional body (NMC part 1, children or allied health professional governing body. Minimum 5 years.
  • Degree- level registration qualification or equivalent post-registration award.
  • Life Support qualification
  • Relevant teaching qualification / evidenced experience
  • Appropriate specialist level qualifications
  • Non-medical prescribing or commitment to undertake the educational programme whilst training.
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • Experience of working within Emergency Department
  • ALS Qualification / Teaching
  • Working towards a master’s degree in advanced practice
