An exciting opportunity has come up for a Band 6 Practice Educator to join the Evelina Education Team.
We are looking for an experienced, compassionate and enthusiastic paediatric nurse with a passion for supporting learners in the clinical environment. The role will focus on supporting paediatric pre-registration learners in the clinical setting. It also includes networking with our partner Higher Education Institutions along with teams in both Evelina London acute and community settings. If you have a passion for education and learning, enjoy supporting students and staff in clinical practice and can work independently, then this is the job for you.

Main duties of the job
- Develop the structured support system for and pre-registration learners and within the clinical placement areas for Guys and St Thomas’.
- Support the development of practice learning culture by supporting Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors and Preceptors.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with academic colleagues at LSBU, KCL, UoG and CU.
- Work alongside the ward sisters/charge nurses to provide a suitable learning environment, promoting and facilitating evidence-based nursing practice.
- Work alongside students in the clinical area, contributing to their learning and assessment
- Monitor and review clinical and professional standards of care, reporting on performance, and instituting remedial action where necessary, with support from the Clinical and Evelina Education Teams
- Work collaboratively with Placement Development Facilitators, Practice Development nurses/midwives, Ward Sisters/Charge Nurses and Link Lecturers
- Identify and respond to changes within nursing and the pre–registration curriculum
- Work in accordance with GSTT Nursing and Midwifery policies & standards and contribute towards achieving the nursing and midwifery priorities.

Essential
- BSC/1st degree or equivalent qualification/training and experience
- Evidence of professional and clinical development
- SSSA training/mentorship
- Registered Nurse Child Branch or Equivalent
Desirable
- Practice Teacher qualifcation
- Post registration qualification in Paediatric Nursing, Education or Leadership
Previous experience
Essential
- Evidence of teaching experience
- Supervision of junior staff
- Experienced and competent in the management of patients within nursing
- Experience of assessing/supervising others in a clinical setting
Desirable
- Able to present articulately to groups of people
Skills/knowldege/ability
Essential
- Evidence of leadership in teaching and mentoring
- Evidence of excellent communication skills
- Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
- Ability to organise and plan own time and that of junior staff and learners.
