Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our established and inclusive multidisciplinary team caring for children and young people with a wide range of endocrine disorders. We are a supportive team and are keen to encourage development and educational opportunities.
We have a 15 hours permanent post & 22.5 hours fixed term post for 12months.
Southampton Children’s Hospital is a major centre for specialist paediatric endocrine services across the south of England providing acute specialist care to our local population as well as a wide geographical area across HIOW and beyond including Dorchester, Frimley and the Channel Islands. We also provide a range of subspecialist services including DSD, bone, genetics, late effects and tertiary obesity.
There are currently 4 consultants and 2.6 WTE specialist nurses within the team as well as junior doctors in general and specialty training. The team works closely with other specialty services to provide care for children who are inpatients, outpatients and admitted for day case investigations. Additionally we provide advice, support and education for patients and staff in other hospitals across the region as part of a regional Wessex Endocrine Network.
The MDT works very effectively, with each member’s views and contributions valued and respected. We are a pro-active and dynamic team providing a high standard of care. You will join the current team who will support you to develop your knowledge and experience in paediatric endocrinology.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR We are looking for an experienced and dynamic paediatric nurse who wants to further develop their own practice and the service.
We need:
- A nurse with previous experience at band 6 preferred but not essential who is able to work autonomously as well as closely and effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- A strong and visible leader, with excellent communication skills.
- A nurse with experience of managing a busy and diverse clinical environment/workload.
