Job overview

To develop, facilitate, deliver and evaluate a range of multi-professional programmes and teaching sessions to improve the quality of the patient experience Trust wide, in accordance with a range of national objectives and organisational goals.

To be a role model within a specific professional field, and to work with staff in clinical practice to promote the acquisition of new and essential skills and knowledge that will enable them to provide high quality care to our patients in line with the values of the Trust.

To provide a role in the facilitation and delivery of the undergraduate curriculum supporting medical student learning outcomes with the relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes in the clinical setting.

To undertake clinical practice, working competently alongside non-registered, and pre/ post registration staff, providing supervision, teaching and assessment of competency where required.

To promote patient safety and reduce clinical risk through the development of educational programs, assessment of clinical skills and clinical competencies.

Main duties of the job

To support pre and post registration staff, in their personal and professional development  and organizational objectives.

To ensure that the principles that guide staff and student development reflects the Trust commitment to quality, safety and patient experience, and that these are embedded into clinical practice

To support and ensure development of professional behaviours and a range of knowledge and skills for all staff, develop and maintain highly effective communication networks with key stakeholders.

To support the Outpatients Sisters and Deputy Sisters to deliver clinical education and work-based programmes that relate to quality patient care, for example Health Care Support Worker Programme, Preceptorship etc. This includes teaching, supporting professionals in clinical settings and formal assessment of supervised practice.

Supports the delivery and implementation of clinical education for all staff; registered, non-registered and students.

Take responsibility for own professional and personal development, through research, innovation and attendance at appropriate study days and represent the organisation at conferences when sharing best practice related to relevant workstreams.

To contribute to a safe and healthy environment for patients, students, staff and visitors in accordance with the Trust Health and Safety requirements

Providing comprehensive and constructive feedback where required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will work with colleagues to:

  • To work closely with the Outpatients Sisters and Deputy Sisters to deliver a training program for Nurses and Healthcare Assistants in the various outpatients’ departments
  • To support and advise on compliance and implementation of the national guidance and recommendations from NHSE/I workforce safeguards and NQB guidance.
  • To support and contribute to the development of a diverse range clinical training programmes.
  • To support the Trust Lead Practitioner for Education & Professional Development, pre and post registration training programmes, and act as the link to the local HEI’s.
  • Support co-ordination and participate in patient facing activities including the undergraduate student ward visits to ULHT, inter-professional learning and in house initiatives
  • Liaise with other nurses and consultant team to provide opportunities for students to observe clinics (as outlined in the course timetable)
