The Outpatient Booking Services within the Royal Cornwall Hospital, is looking to appoint a member of staff, working as part of a team of outpatient advisers. The post holder will co-ordinate referrals and the placement of new and follow-up appointments over a range of specialties. It is a very busy and demanding area to work.
The role of Outpatient Appointment Coordinator will ensure processing is in line with the Trust’s Access Policy that patients are treated in a timely and effective manner and support the delivery of patient’s rights to access health services within maximum wait times.
Main duties of the job
Reliability and ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and precision is of extreme importance.
The post holder will need to check patient details against a range of data sets to ensure a high level of data quality. Attention to detail is crucial.
To contribute to the provision of a quality outpatient appointment service and the effective delivery of patient care.
Ensure all outpatient clinics are fully utilised and cancelled slots filled effectively
To ensure all patients are communicated with efficiviey and efficiently
Receive, access, co-ordinate and book outpatient appointments for patients using knowledge of clinical specialities to ensure patients are booked into the correct appointment slot together with any required diagnostic test.
To be fully conversant in the use of the specialised cancer database and the need for accurate inputting of appropriate information
Ensuring patients are booked according to clinical urgency and RTT chronology.
Ensure validation of RTT patient pathways is undertaken at time of adding to the waiting list.
Communicate and escalate any shortfalls in capacity to the clinical Care Groups and ensure additional capacity is fully utilised and appropriately communicated to patients.
This post is working full time 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30om from Pydar House in Truro.
