Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Orthotist to join our team at an exciting time of growth and transformation. We have taken on a new contract that covers the North East London area, primarily based in Harold Wood Clinic with travel to satellite clinics in Walthamstow, Barking and Chadwell Heath

This role is to work predominantly within our new Orthotics clinic in Harold Wood, Harold Wood Community Health Clinic, Romford and their associated local satellites but may require travel to other areas in this contract as reasonably required by the company.

As an HCPC registered clinician within Opcare, you will competently and confidently assess, prescribe, and fit orthotic devices for routine patient presentations, across a range of clinical settings. You will work autonomously within your scope of practice to manage appropriate interventions, ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care. In addition to direct clinical responsibilities, you will actively contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives under guidance. In addition, you will support the professional development, mentorship, and supervision of graduate and undergraduate colleagues. All activities will be undertaken in line with NHS values and Opcares commitment to innovation and excellence in patient care.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

• Delivers autonomous, patient centred care, independently managing routine and moderately complex cases, and seeking guidance for more challenging situations.
• Applies sound clinical reasoning and experience across patient groups to ensure accurate device design, fitting, and adjustment using clinical and technical skills.
• Contributes to audits, service evaluations and research activities with guidance as needed, supporting data collection and reflective learning.
• Manages clinical equipment and resources responsibly, with awareness of cost effectiveness and service sustainability.
• Maintains accurate clinical records and contributes to audits and quality improvement initiatives to support safe, effective, and continuously evolving patient care.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Highly developed interpersonal skills including formal and informal communication
• Proven record of working within an active, fast paced clinical environment
• Experience of having collaborative role in an MDT environment
• Working proactively and collaboratively in the team and wider trust
• Interest in service development and or evidence of involvement
• Able to prioritise, plan and organise efficiently and work with multiple conflicting priorities.

Desirable

• Experience with CAD CAM or digital workflows.
• Experience mentoring students or clinical staff.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and handle complex cases.

Adheres to clinical prescription guidelines to ensure safe, effective and appropriate patient care.

Effectively plans and prioritises caseload to meet service delivery targets, managing time and multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic clinical environment.

Mentors less experienced staff, supports student and apprentice placements and actively participates in training and team learning.

Maintains accurate clinical records and contributes to audits and quality improvement initiatives to support safe, effective and continuously evolving patient care.

Maintains mandatory training, adheres to policies and procedures and works collaboratively within the team.
