This post offers ample opportunity for training and participation in operating lists with induction and career mentoring by Consultants.  Your timetable will include  theatre time, clinics, ward rounds and on call commitments as well as protected time for research and admin. The department is committed to education.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post is not recognised for training and therefore does not have educational and training approval from the Postgraduate Dean or Royal College. However, in all other respects the post holder will have identical terms and conditions of service to the department’s doctors in training working at this level. Clinical audit experience and ample research opportunities will be available for individuals wishing to progress in their career. Previous trust grade doctors have successfully published papers, won deanery prizes and have gone on to become trainees in their respective fields of interest. Candidates who have a special interest will have the opportunity to discuss at interview. The local city and community served by the Trust is highly diverse with a complex mix of clinical and cultural needs. Good working relationships, strong multi-agency working arrangements and integrated pathways already exist between hospital and community health services, primary care, local authority and mental health services. The post is designed to improve clinical confidence, decision making and higher order thinking. It is ideal for preparation for T&O ST3 National Selection
