An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the team working 20 hours per week part time as an evening housekeeper/orderly on Elmstead Surgical day Unit at Colchester Hospital.
You will be required to maintain a clean patient environment in all clinical areas, ensuring that the ward/kitchen areas are kept clean and tidy.
You will support the clinical staff in "resetting" the ward to receive patients the following day.
You should possess good interpersonal skills and demonstrate a caring, compassionate and friendly attitude to deal with sensitive issues and be approachable.
This role has fixed hours of working 6pm-10pm Monday-Friday. The expectation is that hours would be worked over these five days, 4 hours each day.

Key duties of this role include:
- Ensuring cleanliness of clinical equipment when not in patient use.
- Ensuring kitchen areas are kept clean and tidy.
- Restocking equipment as required.
- Helping staff to close the unit in a timely manner and ensure the ward areas are ready for the next day.
- Establishing a pleasant and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.
- Assisting in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards on the ward highlighting defiance’s in the service in particular in isolation rooms.
- Ensuring all clinical areas are kept tidy and ready for use.
