Job summary

We are looking for experienced or Newly Qualified Mental Health Nurses with sound knowledge and skills to join our Staff Nurses on Brooker Ward which is a 22 bedded unit for people living with Dementia and mental illness. You will work as part of the team to ensure the effective care and treatment of our Older Person Mental Health acute admission ward at St James' Hospital in Portsmouth.

You need to be a motivated practitioner with a passion for older persons mental health. You will play an important role in the team as we aspire to provide excellent care to our patients and develop our service in line with national and local guidance.

You will be a positive role model, coach and mentor junior colleagues and students, providing supervision and engagement. You will relish the role of a Staff Nurse, and if you want to make a difference to patients' lives, we would love to hear from you.

Please note: At present, the Trust is unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this post. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.

*To meet the needs of patients and their families to achieve improved health outcomes and promote health and wellbeing while demonstrating care, compassion, competence, communication, courage, and commitment. Care is based on comprehensive assessment, ensures continuity and is patient/client centred, culturally sensitive and evidence-based and which promotes independence.

*To develop and maintain a culture of service improvement which promotes quality and safety and striving to do better.

*This is in line with the requirements set out in the NMC code which require all registered nurses to:

*Prioritise people; Practice effectively; Preserve safety; Promote professionalism and trust.
