We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team within our female Older People’s Mental Health Inpatient Ward.

This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified or developing Occupational Therapist to gain specialist experience supporting older adults experiencing a range of mental health needs, including dementia, depression, anxiety, psychosis, and complex physical health conditions.

You will work as part of a supportive and skilled multidisciplinary team that values occupation-focused practice, recovery, person-centred care, and the promotion of independence and wellbeing.

You will join a warm, skilled and supportive Occupational Therapy team consisting of Band 6 and Band 5 OTs, dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistants and Activity Coordinators. Occupational Therapy is highly valued within our service and plays a central role in recovery‑focused and strengths‑based care.

You will benefit from:

• Regular, high‑quality clinical supervision
• Bi‑monthly OT Forums that promote shared learning and peer support
• Ongoing guidance from a Specialist Practice Development Occupational Therapist, particularly around leadership and service development
• Access to trust wide OT forums twice a year
• We also offer a robust preceptorship for newly qualified occupational therapists.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist, you will provide assessment, intervention, and discharge planning for older adults admitted to the ward. You will work collaboratively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver high-quality occupational therapy services that enhance engagement in meaningful activities and support recovery.

Under the supervision of senior occupational therapists, you will:

• Undertake occupational therapy assessments using a person-centred approach.
• Develop and implement individualised intervention plans.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and one-to-one interventions.
• Support individuals to maintain and develop skills for daily living.
• Contribute to risk assessment and management plans.
• Participate in discharge planning.
• Work closely with families, carers, and community services.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records.
• Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
