We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our friendly community therapy team at Ryegate Children’s Centre.
This permanent position is ideal for someone who is committed to supporting children and young people with long-term conditions to achieve their full potential. You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team alongside experienced physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and therapy assistants, all dedicated to delivering high-quality care.

About You
We are looking for someone who:
Is passionate about working with children and young people Is enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to delivering high-quality care Is keen to learn and develop their professional skills Holds a Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy Is registered with the HCPC Has experience working with children (or relevant transferable experience)
Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Community Team Leader, some of your responsibilities will include
- Deliver a high standard of occupational therapy care as part of a multidisciplinary team, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other professionals within the community therapy service.
- Carry out routine occupational therapy assessments for children and young people with a wide range of conditions in settings such as schools and family homes.
- Identify and formulate occupational therapy diagnoses to inform effective care planning.
- Develop and implement individualised, goal-oriented treatment programmes tailored to each child or young person.
- Manage a delegated caseload, working under appropriate supervision while ensuring safe and effective care delivery.
- Work as a developing autonomous practitioner, seeking guidance and support from senior occupational therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team as needed.

Knowledge
Essential
- Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession
- Knowledge of clinical governance and its implications for services
- Awareness of own limitations
- Understanding of family / team dynamics and how to develop working relationships with all involved in the child’s care
- Understanding of data protection, confidentiality and health and safety requirements in meeting the needs of the child and family
- Understanding of the impact of disability on children and their families
Desirable
- Knowledge of consent issues specific to paediatrics
- Simple research methodology
- Knowledge of current NHS issues

Experience
Essential
- Experience of team working
- Undergraduate clinical placements in paediatrics
- Experience of working with children, either professionally or socially
