Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a team delivering high-quality, person-centred care. The role involves managing a varied caseload, undertaking specialist assessments and interventions, supporting patients to maximise independence and wellbeing, and contributing to service development. The Trust offers regular supervision, continuing professional development opportunities, and a supportive team environment, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced occupational therapist looking to develop their clinical and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

To hold a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based/client centredprinciples to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

To provide leadership for occupational therapy staff, through regular supervision andappraisal.

To contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of the occupational therapyservice, holding responsibility for defined service projects, working under the direction of theOccupational Therapy Team Manager.

To regularly supervise occupational therapy students on practice placement and take part inyearly practice educator updates.

Job responsibilities

To work with service users to identify treatment goals as part of the overall care plan;using specialist mental health and occupational therapy assessment tools.

To hold a caseload of service users with complex mental health needs, includingevaluating referrals for intervention and priorities for treatment.

To plan and implement evidence based client centred individual and/or groupinterventions, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.

To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensureeffectiveness of intervention.

To critically evaluate outcomes including assessment and management of risk.

To apply clinical reasoning skills to effectively manage clinical caseloads.

To use a broad range of standardised and non-standardised assessments appropriateto model of practice.

To work alongside other professionals and external agencies to provide assessmentand ongoing treatment.

To apply a high level of understanding of the effect of disability and provide training andadvice on lifestyles changes and adaptations to the clients social and physicalenvironment
