The Occupational Therapist is a key member of the community mental health psychosis pathway, supporting service users to develop or regain independence and improve their quality of life. The post focuses on enabling recovery through occupational therapy interventions that promote daily living skills, social participation, vocational engagement, and the development of meaningful routines and roles.

The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of occupational therapy within the pathway, providing specialist assessment and intervention on both an individual and group basis. A central aspect of the role will be supporting the ongoing development, delivery, and evaluation of the borough-wide occupational therapy group programme.

The Occupational Therapist will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, including nursing, psychology, psychiatry, and social care colleagues, to ensure coordinated, holistic care that reflects the full range of service users’ needs and recovery goals.

Main duties of the job

We’re offering an exciting opportunity to be part of our redesigned psychosis service, delivering evidence-based pathways and support for Bromley residents. This role is all about making a real difference—helping individuals regain independence and improve their quality of life through interventions that boost daily living, social engagement, and vocational skills.

As an experienced Occupational Therapist, you will:

• Complete comprehensive occupational needs assessments for service users referred to OT.
• Co-produce personalised goals and deliver tailored interventions aligned with individual care plans.
• Lead and facilitate a variety of group-based interventions that promote recovery, empowerment, and readiness for discharge where appropriate.
• Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary team (MDT) colleagues to identify service users’ functional needs and enhance clinical outcomes.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To manage a clinical caseload
• To work as a member of the MDT
• To support the development of evidence-based OT practice
• To provide OT specific assessment & interventions via groups & individual work related to self-care, leisure and work.
• To contribute to service development
• To participate in research/audit activities
• To supervise the work of Support Workers and OT students on fieldwork placement
• Contribute to and carry out risk assessment & risk management plans
• To provide specialist OT advice to the MDT
• To work independently without direct supervision
• To follow an agreed job plan, with specified number of weekly clinical contacts

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
