Job overview

We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist wishing to take their next steps on the career ladder and looking for a new challenge. The individual needs to be proactive and enthusiastic and will be joining the Acute Respiratory and Rehab Team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The post holder working as part of an integrated team will work as an autonomous practitioner to provide a high standard of intervention across the speciality.

This integrated team is committed to providing highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients within the wide variety of acute medical and surgical wards. You will be required to work alongside your colleagues as an independent practitioner in applying a high level of clinical reasoning to ensure individualised, proactive and holistic assessment and treatment planning.

This full time post is for 8 month fixed term, supporting the team during a maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

As a member of both the integrated rehabilitation service and the multidisciplinary teams on the wards, excellent skills in communication are essential.

As a Band 6 therapist you will be supporting and developing rotational Band 5 therapists.  The role also involves supervising therapy support staff and educating therapy students on placement.

There will be opportunities for innovation and an expectation that you will be actively involved in relevant quality improvement projects to develop the Acute Medicine team.

The integrated Rehabilitation Service aims to provide a progressive, forward thinking approach to patient care whilst able to support its staff in personal development and continued education and training.
