Job overview

The Occupational Health Adviser/Specialist Practitioner will provide, and take responsibility for, specific aspects of effective day to day operational Occupational health service issues. The post holder will promote and maintain professional expertise and organisational standards, providing quality, evidence based, specialist occupational health services to employees of SWB NHS Trust and external client groups to include community based employees and commercial clients.

Main duties of the job

Advising, managing specialist caseloads and educating employees at all levels, on diverse, complex and sensitive work related health issues.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Develop and deliver specialist care packages for all disciplines and grades of staff. This will include giving specialist advice and guidance to hospital consultants, GP’s, dentists and some members of the public.

Provide information and care to staff ensuring consistent best practice to prevent work-related ill health, and promote good health.

Work autonomously by managing and prioritising the occupational health care of individuals and groups according to needs and risk

Possess the clinical skills to undertake clinics including: venepuncture, lung function tests, audiometric tests, immunisations, and other specialist screening procedures for the protection of public health.
