We are looking for a Nursing Support Worker to join our Community Mental Health Team, supporting individuals with a range of mental health needs to achieve their recovery goals and maintain their independence within their local community.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with Registered Mental Health Nurses, Allied Health Professionals and other partner agencies to deliver person-centred care and support. The role involves assisting with planned interventions, supporting service users to access community resources, promoting wellbeing, monitoring mental and physical health, and reporting changes in presentation to the wider clinical team.

You will build positive therapeutic relationships with service users and their families, helping individuals develop confidence, resilience and practical skills to support their recovery journey. The ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively and demonstrate empathy and respect is essential.

Main duties of the job

• Works as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients/service users experiencing mental health needs in the community/home setting or inpatient services, with support and supervision provided by a registered healthcare professional. •Undertakes or supports personal care activities, daily living skills/tasks and clinical care duties with minimal support and supervision as delegated by a registered healthcare professional in accordance with the HEIW All Wales Guidelines for Delegation. •Supports the enhanced observation of patients who present as a high risk to themselves or others due to a mental health, cognitive or clinical condition. •Ensures the registered healthcare professional is regularly updated on the patients/client’s condition and progress.
• Ensures the working environment is safe and hygienic following infection prevention and control policies and processes.
• Contributes to the teaching and supervision of students and junior staff •Delivers role in accordance with Health Board/Trust Values and Code of Conduct for HCSW’s in Wales including maintaining physical, procedural and relational security.

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above.
