An exciting Band 3 opportunity has arisen in the Day Hospital. The Day Hospital provides care and support for elderly patients and works with a dedicated multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work as part of a team, supporting consultant clinics and running nurse lead clinics.

The post holder will assess, plan, and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring compassionate and sensitive manner. Working closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinic governance process.

The Day Hospital provides a variety of clinics including:

• - Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) Clinics - Parkinson’s Disease Clinics - From the point of diagnosis and providing ongoing care as the disease progresses - Nurse led Parkinson’s Disease clinics including clinics for therapies such as Botox and Apomorphine - Bone Health Clinics – Diagnosis and management of Osteoporosis - Specialist Multidisciplinary Clinic for falls and Balance - Syncope Clinic - Ferinject clinics

To succeed, you’ll need to be committed in delivering high quality, patient focused care with pride and respect. You must have excellent interpersonal skills.

The core working hours are Monday – Friday 08:30 – 17:00.

Main duties of the job

• Welcome and orientate patients and visitors to the department
• Perform clinical tasks such as clinical observations
• To complete blood tests and cannulation
• To undertake ECG's, bladder scans, MOCA tests, Active stand blood pressure monitoring
• Help manage stock levels and stock rotation
• Organise own workload and support the team as required
• Be competent in the correct use of all equipment in the clinical setting in accordance with instructions and departmental procedures, reporting any faults as necessary.
• Take overall responsibility for the coordination and safe effective management of clinical area as delegated by the Unit Manager.
• Collaborate with other health care professionals in the delivery of high standards of care.
• Participate in the implementation and delivery of care based on Trust standards.
• Undertake practice sensitive to the individualised needs of all patients.
• Communicate effectively with dignity and respect with all patients, relatives, staff and others considering potential barriers to understanding.
• Ensure that patient's information is communicated to the appropriate professional(s) of the multidisciplinary team

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

As part of our commitment to safeguarding patients and staff, many roles at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This is a standard process across the NHS and helps us ensure a safe environment for everyone.

What is a DBS Check?

A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:

Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.

Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.

Enhanced with Barred Lists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the children’s and/or adults’ barred lists.

Who Needs a DBS Check

Most roles involving direct patient contact, working with children or vulnerable adults, or access to sensitive information will require a DBS check. The job advert and recruitment team will let you know if this applies to your role.

The Costs for a DBS

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.

DBS Update Service
