We’re looking for a compassionate and caring Nursing Assistant with a passion to be a key part of the patient care journey here at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). Our Nursing Assistants take great pride in the essential work we do. That’s because we’re not just helping patients, we’re going the extra mile for them – day in, day out. Our nursing teams are committed to caring for our patients and families, delivering consistent, high quality, patient focused care.

You’ll communicate in a sensitive and compassionate manner with patients, relatives, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, working flexibly over 5 days a week .

This vacancy is for 15 hours per week, with shift patterns to be determined during the interview process.

The position is primarily based at Wythenshawe Outpatients, though cross-site working across Withington OPD may be an option if required.

Main duties of the job

Being supervised by Registered Nurses & within Trust guidelines & protocols, you’ll assist the Nursing team in delivering the excellent standard of patient care that you would expect for yourself and your loved ones.

Your duties will involve supporting patients with personal care needs, including mobilising, toileting, welcoming and orientating patients and visitors to the department, chaperoning the patient as required ensuring appropriate support, and preparing and maintaining the work environment for clinical procedures.

What is a DBS Check?

A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:

Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.

Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.

The Costs for a DBS

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.
