Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare?
We're looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the team in our Warwickshire Cluster, working 30 hours per week over Mondayto Saturday.
This unit-based role covers Nuneaton, Coventry and Stratford. Regular travel across all units is essential.
About the role
As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you'll provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception & vasectomy. You'll be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment & will work in all areas of the unit including theatre & recovery. This role will involve providing treatment & clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.
About You
You'll be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) & an active NMC pin. You'll have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding & Fraser/Gillick competencies are key for this role.
With excellent interpersonal, communication & listening skills you'll be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate & empathetic way. You'll also be comfortable using IT & Microsoft Packages including Outlook & Microsoft Teams.
Main duties of the job
- You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
- Provide information on STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform and confirm the clients future choice of contraception.
- Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
- Carry out post treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns
- Complete relevant paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
- To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
We are also looking for:
- Sound & accurate administrative competence with attention to detail
- Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexual health, contraception
- Venepuncture / cannulation skills

All weekend work is paid at time and a half
Shift Pattern:
The flexible role will work across the cluster to provide cover for annual leave (A/L) and staff sickness, depending on service requirements.
The rota will be provided on a monthly basis and may vary depending on staffing needs.
Example weekly pattern:
- Monday: SOA 09:0015:00
- Tuesday: Coventry 08:3016:30
- Wednesday: Nuneaton or Stratford 09:0015:00
- Thursday: Stratford or Nuneaton 08:3016:30
- Friday: Coventry 08:3016:30
- Saturday: Nuneaton 08:3014:30
the location and working days may be adjusted each month according to annual leave, sickness and service requirements across the cluster.
Locations:
Coventry will be your base unit with mileage paid to the other 2 units as per the expenses policy.
