Job overview

Provision of seamless maternal care and wellbeing for all women, families and birthing people, is at the forefront of our practice. Our midwives strive to provide holistic care for all service users and pride ourselves on expertise, knowledge and the delivery of evidence based, women centered midwifery care.

We have a fantastic 12-month preceptorship programme covering a variety of departments, along with the support of three dedicated preceptorship leads, a 24/7 clinical support team and our professional midwifery advocate (PMA) service during this period. You will have the option to join either our traditional rotational preceptorship programme (covering broad range of areas including; Antenatal, Postnatal, Delivery Suite, Birth Centre and Community rotations), or our continuity of care team preceptorship package.

This advert is for newly qualified midwives who will be qualifying in or prior to September 2025.

Staff improvement huddles as a midwife with us you will have a key involvement in continuous service improvement initiatives and driving changes within the department.

Multi-disciplinary team working.

Professional Midwifery Advocates (PMAs) who provide expert clinical supervision, support and guidance when needed.

Special interest groups we have team members supporting specifically with safeguarding, auditing, student mentorship, infant feeding, infection control and more.

Preceptorship Midwife as dedicated line manager.

Bespoke training sessions for Band 5 Newley Qualified Midwives.

Birmingham Womens and Childrens NHS Foundation Trust is a centre of excellence in healthcare for women and their families within the West Midlands and beyond. We are a referral centre for diverse, high risk pregnancies and provide excellent standards of care for all women. We have gained Unicef Level 3 Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation.
