We will have a 12 month fixed term vacancy for the position of Senior Complex Spinal Fellow within Neurosurgery.

The Trust Doctor post will provide excellent experience for candidates who have passed the MRCS exam with Neurosurgery Registrar experience.

Main duties of the job

  • Full time position with ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Expected to run out-patient clinics and operating sessions accordingly (patients will nominally be under a designated consultant)
  • Working with a team of 10 clinical, 2 academic registrars and 3 fellows
  • Cross- cover of colleagues absence is required
  • Perform on-call duties including operating out-of-hours at a level appropriate of a Senior SpR
  • On-call will be shared equally with the other ST3+ level post-holders and will be banded at 1B (40%)
  • The post holder will run a weekly Rapid Access Spine and Fracture clinic
  • There will be ample opportunity to perform audit and research projects at St George’s and at RMH and RSCH
  • This post would incorporate an element of service development
  • The post holder will be expected to travel between all the Trust sites and also those necessary to fulfil their duties
  • The post holder will work collaboratively with the spine MDT coordinator and CNS to facilitate the effective clinical management and seamless care of patients with spinal tumours
