
A neonatal housekeeper is a vital non-clinical support role within the neonatal unit, responsible for maintaining strict hygiene, cleaning equipment, managing stock levels, and ensuring a clean, safe environment for babies, families and other staff members.
To provide and maintain a high standard of cleanliness in all areas of the neonatal unit
Cleaning & Sanitation: Sanitizing cots, incubators, and equipment in compliance with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) policies to protect vulnerable newborns. Stock Management: Checking and maintaining consumable stock levels, ensuring all necessary items are available for the clinical team. Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning and preparing neonatal equipment, as well as reporting faulty items to clinical engineering. Environmental Control: Keeping patient areas, staff rooms, and store rooms clean, tidy, and safe. Support & Flexibility: Working closely with nurses and multidisciplinary teams to ensure 7-day-a-week cover for the unit.
