The Department of Haematology at UCLH is seeking a Myeloma Clinical Fellow: Clinical Trials and Transplant at ST6 to join our team in August for a period of 12 months. This is a full-time post based at UCH for a period of 12 months with the opportunity for a further extension. This would suit an experienced Haematology trainee at ST6 level. UCLH is one of the largest and busiest haematology units in Europe with >100 dedicated inpatient beds in a purpose-built building which opened in 2022 (the Grafton Way Building). This post is set within the department of malignant haematology at UCLH with a focus on multiple myeloma. This role will be specifically on managing patients participating in late phase clinical trials and autologous stem cell transplantation and supporting their relevant databases. We also welcome applications from: current UK trainees who are looking to undertake an OOPE or OOPT to broaden their clinical experience. suitably qualified haematology doctors who are looking to pursue GMC specialist registration via the CESR route
Main duties of the job
Clinical trial duties: • Identification of patients eligible for clinical trials from MDT and referrals • Management of patients on trials, including adverse event monitoring, management of toxicities and performing trial related assessments • Monitoring and management of trial patients on the ward, liaison with in-patient teams and research teams • Ensuring documentation of trials is accurate and dealing with data queries • Reviewing trials patients in Wednesday and Thursday clinics • Consenting ad hoc/outside of clinic when required • Timely review and sign off of safety laboratory reports (local and central) • Resolving clinical data queries • Adverse event and concomitant medication review • Performing urgent bone marrows • Participation in the IMF Immunotherapy database project
ASCT duties: • Attending dedicated myeloma ASCT MDT as well as the myeloma MDT • Attending a weekly myeloma clinic (that will include ASCT and non-ASCT patients) • Liaison with referring hospitals about patients referred for ASCT, ensuring accurate data is collected and ensuring good communication • Ensuring the myeloma ASCT database is kept up to date. This will allow optimal patient care and ongoing audit projects • Participation in myeloma ASCT research projects

- Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Clinical audit experience
Desirable
- Undergoing or completed higher specialist training in Haematology
- Experience in haematology or oncology
- Experience of clinical trials

- Excellent communication skills/verbal and written. Good command of written and spoken English

- Ability and commitment to teach in a clinical setting
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload, to delegate responsibility as appropriate and to supervise staff
- Good inter-personal skills with an ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting

Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential
- Medical degree
- Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or equivalent
- GMC registration NB: Non-UK trained doctors must be on the GMC register by date of appointment having completed both PLAB1 & 2 and hold a current licence to practise.
- Completed core medial training and equivalent to ST6 at appointment
Desirable
- Knowledge of the Clinical Governance framework of the NHS (including Research governance) and understanding of current changes in the organisation and management structures of the NHS. Ability to act within these parameters
