- Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Surgery — including repair and replacement
- Minimally Invasive Tricuspid Valve Surgery — including repair techniques via a minimally invasive approach
- Minimally Invasive Aortic Valve Surgery — including mini-sternotomy AVR and endoscopic AVR
- Minimally Invasive Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting — including endoscopic assisted CABG techniques
- Minimally Invasive Aortic Root / Ascending aorta Surgery
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The appointment involves a balanced distribution of time across cardiac theatres, the ward, and outpatient clinics, ensuring a well-rounded clinical experience throughout the fellowship.The unit is supported by three dedicated minimally invasive cardiac surgery consultants, providing the fellow with exceptional operative exposure and mentorship. The fellow will have the opportunity to develop proficiency in the full spectrum of minimally invasive cardiac surgical techniques. Training will be delivered in a progressive and structured manner.
The fellow will advance from assisted participation through to primary operating under supervised consultant guidance, in keeping with their evolving competency and experience. It is anticipated that by the conclusion of the fellowship, the post-holder will have accumulated a substantial operative logbook reflective of a high-volume minimally invasive practice, positioning them competitively for a consultant post with a dedicated minimally invasive cardiac surgery remit.
