The post is full time and the post holder will be expected to participate in the general surgical registrar rota. The successful candidate will be working within the Colorectal Surgery team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust and will provide an opportunity to gain exposure and training in minimal access (robotic and laparoscopic) colorectal surgery.
The Colorectal department includes 4 robotically trained Consultants, and all 5 colorectal surgeons routinely perform laparoscopic surgery for benign and malignant colorectal disease. Minimal access techniques are also utilised by most surgeons for abdominal wall hernias and cholecystectomies. The Trust has two da Vinci Xi Dual Console robots and a CMR robot. During the post, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will gain skills in a whole breadth of minimal access (robotic and laparoscopic) colorectal procedures, including rectal and colonic resections for benign and malignant disease, utilising techniques such as intracorporeal colonic anastomosis and Transanal Minimal Access Surgery (TAMIS).
Main duties of the job
