Main duties of the job

You will be pivotal in promoting our range of services and ensuring that every family receives high-quality, personalised care throughout their journey.
You'll have the opportunity to work across all areas of our service, including:
- Freestanding and alongside birth centres
- Obstetric delivery suite
- Maternity assessment suite
- Antenatal clinics
- Community services and home birth team
- Antenatal and postnatal wards
- Theatre
You'll collaborate closely with our specialist teams, including the:
- Enhanced support midwifery team
- Antenatal screening team
- Research and development team
- Rainbow team
- Diabetes specialist continuity of carer team
- Digital team

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As part of our team, your duties will include, but not be limited to:
🌟 Assisting and supporting the lead midwife in the safe and effective management of the area, including personnel, facilities, and associated systems.
👥 Serving as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team, and the organisation. 🤝 Coordinating and delivering care through appropriate professional practice, delegation, and supervision. 🩺 Ensuring a high standard of midwifery care is delivered based on assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with local and national standards and evidence-based guidelines. 📊 Setting, monitoring, and maintaining standards of care to enhance patient experience and outcomes. ⚠️ Proactively managing risk and maintaining patient safety in accordance with health, safety, and security legislation and guidelines. 📢 Communicating relevant information to the multidisciplinary team and external organizations to ensure seamless care. 🎓 Promoting education and health promotion while advocating for equality in care and practice. 🏥 Ensuring the care environment is safe, well-equipped, and compliant with hygiene and cleanliness standards.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Awareness of changes within Midwifery practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Able to manage /treat obstetric emergencies in hospital/birth unit and community setting
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
- Maintains own reflective practice
- Demonstrates effective listening skills and communication skills.
- Confident in teaching and assessing student midwives, midwives, and doctors.
- Experience in IV additives, venipuncture and Cannulation, Perineal suturing
Desirable
- Knowledge of Leadership and management
- Evidence clinical competence in area of specialty
- Experience of high dependency care
- Non-medical prescribing qualification
Qualifications & Education
Essential
- Appropriate NMC Registration
- NMC recognised Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards, following 18 months commencement in post
- Evidence of continuing education or development since qualifying
