We are looking for band 5 midwives who are already working through their preceptorship or are pin ready to commence their preceptorship with us. Additionally we are looking for experienced band 6 midwives to join our maternity and labour ward rotation teams.

This is currently a time of exciting changes for maternity provision within Lincolnshire as a local Maternity system (LMS) has been established by the CCGs with the Lincolnshire Sustainability and Transformation Partnership. ULHT is embracing the opportunity for all women to have a personalised maternity care plan with continuity of carer with care delivery as close to home as possible via community hubs. The aim of this model of care is to improve the health of women and their families now and for future generations. Within Lincolnshire Continuity of carer models for antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care have also been launched.

ULHT provides intrapartum care for approximately 5,500 women and their families across two consultant-led sites working together closely in order to provide safe effective care for women and their families. Our local community is multicultural with a diverse mix of health needs.

Main duties of the job

1. Actively participate in the continuing development of the unit philosophy. Use a flexible  and innovative approach to practice appropriate to the needs of the mother and baby. 2. Adhere to all standards and rules as laid down by the NMC for Midwives. 3. Communicate effectively with women, families and colleagues within the multidisciplinary team in order to meet individual needs. 4. Provide leadership and support to all junior members of staff and students. Provide  induction for new staff to the clinical area. Contribute to staff development review  process. 5. Ensure adherence to the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust protocols, policies  and guidelines. Participate in development of ward protocols, NHS Trust policies,  guidelines and risk management. 6. Lead and participate in the implementation of clinical audit and standard setting. Ensure  practice is researched and evidence-based and initiate the implementation of new  developments. 7. Share research findings and innovation with the Unit by initiating teaching sessions for  the team. Be responsible for maintaining and enhancing professional self development. 8. Act as an advocate for women and their families and for junior members of staff.
