In line with the government’s priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.

You will have a demonstrable track record of providing collaborative and supportive interventions with children, young people, families, and parents/carers. You will have professional registration within the Occupational Therapy discipline. The role of the OT will help bring a fresh perspective to the needs of the young people we work with and enhance the existing care offered. In return for a forward-thinking, creative approach, you will be supported to utilise your core OT skills to inform and compliment care.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work collaboratively with a wide number of agencies, voluntary services, and community interest groups to develop the ability of young people to be able to engage in occupation, to improve and/or maintain their mental well-being.  As part of the team the post holder will also deliver activities related to the whole school approach to well-being agenda as well as offering informal advice and support to educational staff.

We offer an exciting and dynamic environment where your ideas and career development will be valued. You will be supported directly by senior colleagues and we will develop the service together.

The post-holder will be responsible for the caseload management & supervision of members of the team. The post holder will also work with and support other senior colleagues in developing new services or new service structures to support the delivery of skills and facilitate wider service transformation within the local child mental health system – this will be done in conjunction with and local service leads and managers.

They will support the strategic development of the MHST initiative within the Trust, under the direction of the overall the Team Lead. They will work closely with all clinical and operational leaders across Tower Hamlets to ensure that this new role and the MHST are well established and integrated into our CAMHS service.
