We have an exciting opportunity for mental health practitioner to be part of the complex emotional and relational needs (CERN) pathway based at Gateway House, Wymondham. If you have a core profession and registered with an professional body (such as Nursing, OT, Social Work) then we would like to hear from you.

This role is an excellent opportunity to enhance your knowledge and experience of working with people with complex emotional and relational needs. You will be part of the South/ West Dialectic Behaviour Therapy consult with a primary focus to provide NICE concordant DBT interventions to service users with personality disorder and other complex needs. The role includes: collaborating closely with multi-disciplinary members of the team, contributing to the development of an evolving pathway and shaping the future of our services.

Support and mentorship will be at the heart of your experience, as you'll have the chance to assist others in the multidisciplinary team who are delivering these vital interventions through consultation and supervision.

Main duties of the job

  • Delivering specialised Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Personality Disorder to working-age adults, including opportunities for individual and group work.
  • Participating in DBT consult.
  • Collaborating within a dynamic multi-disciplinary mental health team, ensuring seamless integration of care, and providing consultation, supervision and training to non-therapist team colleagues.
  • Adhering to service procedures, protocols, and guidelines to maintain exceptional standards.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

  • Ability and willingness to travel independently to meet the needs and requirements of the service
  • Undertake physical intervention training and remain trained in techniques, as required by role

  • Excellent communication and engagement skills Conflict resolution and Breakaway training (or requirement to undertake within first 12 weeks)
  • Care planning and Risk assessment knowledge and skills
  • Computer skills and experience of using an Electronic Patient Record system

Experience

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience
  • Experience in the delivery of clinical interventions
  • Experience of managing a caseload and the provision of Mental Health Care services to people with mental health care needs

Desirable

  • Experience in delivering group based interventions Experience in supporting service development and quality improvement initiatives
  • Experience working in the specific area
  • Experience of interagency working Experience of supporting transitions

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist OR Social Worker with the relevant professional registration
  • Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor training (NMC registrants) or Practice Educator (AHP & Social Worker Registrants)
  • Ongoing professional development working towards degree level ( if professional registration is following a diploma level course)

Desirable

  • Recognised Leadership/Management training
  • Higher degree or post graduate certificate in area of clinical / therapeutic practice
